Pricing Breakdown¶
Wealthica uses a tiered model with a free entry point. The Free plan connects up to 3 Canadian financial institutions and includes basic portfolio tracking, a balance sheet, and budgeting tools. Connect at $50/year CAD expands institution access via Plaid and Yodlee with document syncing. Unlimited Connect at $75/year CAD adds unlimited account connections, digital asset tracking, and historical value imports. Premium at $150/year CAD ($12.50/month) adds 15-minute delayed stock quotes, enhanced portfolio filtering, US institution connections in beta, and premium support. Prestige at $250/year CAD ($21/month) adds VIP support, geographic allocation views, calendar events, and custom asset attributes.
FlashFi has two tiers. Operator at $12/month USD gives you multi-currency investment tracking, cash and debt tracking, net worth calculation, and portfolio analytics. Apex at $39/month USD adds advanced analytics and premium features.
For a Canadian investor who just wants to see all their accounts in one dashboard, Wealthica’s free or Connect tier is significantly cheaper than FlashFi. At the Premium level, Wealthica ($150 CAD/year, roughly $110 USD) and FlashFi Operator ($144 USD/year) are in a similar range, but they serve very different use cases.
Institution Connections and Canadian Coverage¶
This is Wealthica’s core strength and the reason it exists. Wealthica connects to over 140 Canadian financial institutions using its proprietary aggregation technology. The big six Canadian banks (RBC, TD, BMO, Scotiabank, CIBC, National Bank), major brokerages (Questrade, Wealthsimple, TD Direct Investing), credit unions, and Desjardins are all supported. Data syncs daily, pulling in account balances, holdings, and transactions automatically.
For a Canadian investor with accounts spread across multiple Canadian institutions, this is transformative. Instead of logging into five different bank portals, Wealthica consolidates everything into a single dashboard. The depth of Canadian coverage is unmatched — no other platform supports as many Canadian institutions.
US institution connections are available as a beta feature on the Premium tier, but international coverage beyond North America is minimal. If you have a brokerage account in the UK, a savings account in Thailand, or investments through a European platform, Wealthica cannot connect to those institutions.
FlashFi does not connect to any institutions. All holdings, accounts, and balances are entered manually. Price updates for stocks, ETFs, crypto, and mutual funds happen automatically via Tiingo, but the initial data entry is hands-on.
Multi-Currency and International Support¶
This is where the products diverge most sharply.
Wealthica was built for the Canadian financial ecosystem. Its currency handling is optimized for CAD with solid USD support, which covers the vast majority of Canadian investor needs. If you hold Canadian stocks in a TFSA, US-listed ETFs in an RRSP, and some crypto, Wealthica handles this well and shows everything in CAD.
However, Wealthica’s multi-currency support thins out quickly beyond North America. Holdings denominated in EUR, GBP, JPY, CHF, or currencies from emerging markets are not a primary use case. The platform does not offer real-time FX conversion across dozens of currency pairs as a core feature.
FlashFi was built for people who do not have a single financial home. You set a home currency for reporting, and every holding, cash account, savings balance, and debt is converted using real-time Tiingo forex rates. The architecture assumes your money is spread across currencies — a US brokerage, a European ETF, Thai savings, crypto in USD, debt in GBP — and that seeing all of it in one currency is the baseline requirement.
If your financial life is 90% Canadian, Wealthica’s currency handling is more than sufficient. If you are a Canadian expat living in Portugal with investments in three countries and bank accounts in four currencies, FlashFi is designed for exactly that situation.
Net Worth Tracking¶
Both platforms offer net worth tracking, but the scope differs.
Wealthica calculates net worth from your connected accounts — investment balances, cash, and synced assets. It provides a balance sheet view and historical tracking over time. The strength is that synced accounts update automatically, so your net worth stays current without manual intervention. However, Wealthica does not track debt, which means your net worth figure may overstate your actual position if you carry significant liabilities.
FlashFi calculates net worth from investments (at current market prices), cash accounts, savings accounts, minus debt balances, all converted to your home currency. Because it includes debt tracking, you get a more complete picture. The trade-off is that everything except market prices requires manual updates.
Tax Reporting and Canadian Features¶
Wealthica includes features that are specifically valuable for Canadian investors. The Capital Gains Report helps with tax filing by tracking realized gains and losses. The platform understands Canadian account types (TFSA, RRSP, RESP, LIRA) and can categorize holdings accordingly. The Wealthscope add-on provides portfolio analysis with a Canadian lens.
These features are largely irrelevant outside Canada, but if you file Canadian taxes and want a tool that speaks your regulatory language, Wealthica has a meaningful advantage.
FlashFi has no tax reporting features and no awareness of country-specific account types. It is a pure portfolio tracker and net worth calculator. Tax reporting is left to dedicated tax software.
Where Wealthica Wins¶
- Canadian institution coverage: 140+ Canadian financial institutions with automatic daily sync is unmatched. No other platform covers the Canadian market as deeply.
- Free tier: You can connect up to 3 institutions at no cost, which is enough for many Canadian investors to get real value.
- Canadian tax features: Capital gains reporting and Canadian account type awareness make tax season easier.
- Passive tracking: Once accounts are connected, data updates automatically. No manual entry needed for synced institutions.
- Mature ecosystem: 50,000+ users tracking $32B+ in assets. The platform is stable, funded, and established in its market.
- Add-on ecosystem: Power-ups like Wealthscope, Passiv Lite, and CoinTracking integration extend functionality without bloating the core product.
Where FlashFi Wins¶
- Built for global investors: The entire product assumes your money lives in multiple countries and currencies. This is the default mode, not an edge case.
- Debt tracking: FlashFi includes debt as part of your net worth calculation. Wealthica does not track debt.
- Real-time FX: All currency conversions use real-time Tiingo forex rates, not delayed or daily snapshots.
- No geographic lock-in: Manual tracking means your data works regardless of which country your institutions are in. No aggregation partner needed, no connection coverage gaps.
- Multi-currency as architecture: Every data point carries its own currency. The system was designed from the database level to handle cross-currency portfolios, not adapted after the fact.
- Real-time price data: Market prices update in real time via Tiingo. Wealthica’s free and lower tiers rely on daily syncs, with 15-minute delayed quotes only available on Premium.
Who Should Choose Wealthica¶
Wealthica is the right choice if you are a Canadian investor whose financial life is primarily within Canada, you want automatic syncing with Canadian banks and brokerages so you never have to manually enter data, you file Canadian taxes and want capital gains reporting built into your portfolio tracker, your currency needs are limited to CAD and USD, or you want a free or low-cost tool to consolidate your Canadian accounts. If you are a Canadian resident with a standard Canadian investment portfolio, Wealthica is purpose-built for you.
Who Should Choose FlashFi¶
FlashFi is the right choice if you are a Canadian expat, digital nomad, or international investor whose financial life spans multiple countries, you hold assets denominated in currencies beyond CAD and USD and need real-time cross-currency net worth calculation, you have accounts at institutions outside North America that no aggregation service covers, you want debt included in your net worth tracking, or you prefer a tool that treats multi-country, multi-currency investing as the norm rather than an exception. If your financial life outgrew a single country, FlashFi was built for where you are now.
